It's Been Three Weeks: Was In-N-Out Burger Worth the Hype?

Was the burger worth the waterworks?

The Frisco and Allen locations of In-N-Out are three weeks old today. You've had time to digest the Double-Doubles, the well-done fries, and that one girl has, hopefully, wiped away her tears.

Opening day was a manifest destiny of meat. Some travelers had "In-N-Out or bust" on their cars, and others were so thrilled they cut in front of a three-hour long line. So, before the 7940 N. Central Expressway location opens up (coming soon...), we ask simply: Was it worth all the hype?

After the jump, we've created a rather informal poll to gauge the reaction of those who've tried the famous burgers. We're dying to know.

Update at 5:06 p.m.: The results, so far, are interesting. 23.6% say: "Yes...delicious." 8.9% say: "No...screw it." 24.5% say: "It's OK." 43.1% say: "Lines are too long."

In N Out burgers are very average. You can get as excited as you want, but once you get one you'll say, "Well, that's certainly a burger. How about that -- all that excitement over such a middle-of-the-road product.."

I've been dying for a double, double animal style but the lines are too frigging long to drive from Uptown to Frisco or Allen. Although, I've heard the lines are much shorter during the off hours at the Allen location. Which is actually closer to me than the Frisco INO.

In-N-Out burgers are fantastic. I think that whole thing has been lost amidst the hype. The worst part of the irrational hysteria is that a large segment of the population will forever be predisposed to hate In-N-Out for no good reason.

Yes, the lines are unacceptably long now, but that doesn't mean that the food isn't really good. Maybe not wait-three-hours good, but very good.

I think some of ya'll just don't know how to 'preciate a fab, out-of-this world burger. I've being to the ones in Calif. & these burgers r 2 die 4 & well worth waiting for an hr or longer wait. I'm a true-blood born in Texas woman & Whataburger, Sonic, DQ, etc. & none of 'em could equal In & Out burgers.

Traffic on Central/Greenville is going to be a nightmare once the new location opens up.

Traffic always sucks there and will definitely be worse, but I doubt if the people in Dallas proper will shit all over themselves trying to get a fast-food burger the way they do in the outlying outposts.

So sad for Bueno, IHOP, Chiptole and ChickFla well screw chickfla the cause lots of problems too. Forget about going to any of those establishments as well. Im sure people down here will shit themselves just like the lameo suburbanites

My inner Mel Tillis gets apoplectic at the thought of driving up there and waiting in line forever, when there are perfectly good Whataburgers nearby. So I'm at least waiting until the In-N-Out on Central opens, to give them a try.

I live in Frisco, and drove by In-N-Out Friday night, and the lines were still ridiculous. The line of cars was still wrapped around it like twice, and the people standing outside...I could have slaughtered a cow, ground the meat, and cooked my own burger in the time those people got served.

The lines are unconscionable. If this were, say Italy, TX, then I can sort of understand the lines. (What else happens in Italy, TX? Is there more than 5 places to purchase a burger there?). But jeebus people! This is Dallas, TX. There are burgers everywhere. Some bad, but most are pretty good. And some of those are even great and you don't need some dumb not-so-secret handshake to enjoy them.
