This weekend, For The Love of The Lake -- a group of volunteers dedicated to the preservation of White Rock Lake Park -- is hosting a benefit for the White Rock Lake Foundation and the Friends of the Bath House. This weekend's events also mark the finale of the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration, a marathon of events and activities to celebrate the 100th birthday of the park. The festivities kick off Saturday with an all-day beach party with loads of good food and drinks. On Saturday, the historic Bath House balcony will be transformed into "The Veranda Lounge." Chefs Colleen O' Hare and Jeana Johnson of East Dallas' Good 2 Go Tacos will serve brunch and cocktails on the Bath House Veranda from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Private Chef Hollie Dorothey will whip up a four-course lunch with wine from 12 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Other events include an afternoon tea showcasing Lone Star Teas, plus wines and beers from Ben E. Keith paired alongside cheeses from Deep Ellum's Mozzarella Company and more from 4:30 until 6 p.m. Chef Marc Cassel of Peavy Road along with Garreth Dickey of Park and Keith Cedotal of Malai Kitchen will host a "Celebrity Chef Dinner" and wine pairing at 7 p.m. Then, at 9 p.m., a fireworks display will light up White Rock Lake in honor of 100 years of White Rock Lake and Centennial Celebration Honorary Chairman Ebby Halliday.
On Sunday, the Bath House will host a chef's picnic from noon to 3 p.m., of which proceeds will benefit The American Red Cross' Dallas Area Chapter and the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration, which will help fund park improvements.
