Divine Reserve 11 Joins Beer Advocate Top Five -- And Is Still Available in Town

Moments ago at 5 p.m., the Meddlesome Moth tapped a cask of Saint Arnold Divine Reserve 11, which almost immediately shot to the No. 4 spot on Beer Advocate's Soutwest ratings.

As you probably know, Divine Reserve is the Texas brewery's sporadically released series of a relatively small batch of high-ABV, high-quality beer that is so sought-after by beer drinkers that some go so far as to line up outside of stores before opening. Most of those few stores that receive DR beers limit purchase quantities to prevent scalping.

Tuesday, the day of its release, Twitter was alight with users boasting about their finds or begging for leads on where to track down a six-pack. The beer is rare, but may still available in some stores and bars in coming days. Majestic Liquors' newsletter yesterday urged readers to hurry into stores before they run out. Finding it at stores is a long shot, but it's worth a call or visit -- especially if you've become friendly with the owner or beer specialist.

As for tappings, if you can't try the cask-conditioned DR11 at the Moth, DR11 will be one of a few hop-centric beers tapped at the Common Table's Brewsday Tuesday, along with Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, Anchor Humming (Pale Ale with Nelson Sauvin hops), Rogue XS I2PA (Imperial India Pale Ale), (512) Black IPA, Dogfish Head 90 Minute and Lagunitas IPA.

My thoughts on the beer can wait. For now, get ye to the Moth.

Square Burger in McKinney tapped it first in DFW on Tuesday morning. They got a half barrel and being further North you can still try it there. Not for long I think cause when we were there a lot of people were asking and trying it.

Meant to in this post, but the day got away from me. Coming soon, promise. Thanks again for scoring a sixer for me.
