Rangers to Offer More Beef This Season

One year after debuting a veggie sandwich, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington is beefing up its meat offerings with a pair of new steak sandwiches, all-beef hot dogs and beef sausages.

"Beef and steak are taking an even bigger role in concessions," says Glen White of Delaware North Companies Sportservice, a major concessionaire at the ballpark and DFW International Airport.

White says Rangers Ballpark's appreciation of beefy snacks was heightened by last season's successful chopped brisket sandwich, a late addition to the line-up that became tremendously popular during the championship playoffs.

White says steak's price point hasn't scared off hungry baseball fans.

"There's a value to it," he says. "We're still trying to price at a point that's appealing."

In addition to the new hot dogs and hickory-smoked sausages from Nolan Ryan's beef outfit, Sportservice will also sell two steak sandwiches under the Food Network label: a Red, White & Blue Steak sandwich, "served on a French demi baguette and topped with Maytag blue cheese and sweet and spicy Peppadew-pepper mayonnaise" and a Texas steak sandwich crowned with salsa verde.

"We've really tried to focus on foods that represent Texas," a release quotes Sportservice general manager Shawn Mattox as saying.

Other new items this season include Blue Bell ice cream and a three-pound pretzel.
