NTFB Launches Young Professionals' Group
The North Texas Food Bank is borrowing a strategy from arts agencies, launching an organization for young professionals.
"We are actively engaging the young professional crowd because they are at a great life stage to start making an impact now which will last a lifetime," public affairs coordinator Kristin Bowman explains.
The group, which kicks off with a 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. reception tonight at Veritas, will sponsor quarterly happy hours and participate in "exclusive volunteer opportunities," in which members will box and sort canned goods together.
Bowman says the social dimension of the program is critical for "specifically cultivating the young professional crowd."
"It's really about building relationships," she says.
In addition to having the chance to fight hunger, meeting attendees will also be treated to giveaways and snacks from Horne & Dekker.
"The way we see it is anybody can make a difference," Bowman says.
