This week, forgo the tie and stop in for a cupcake. Don't feel bad about being too trendy -- or maybe too late on a trend -- it's all for charity. Read on.

The Event: No Tie Dinner and Dessert Party
The Cause: AIDS Services of Dallas
When you get home from the office Friday, hang your tie on that motorized tie rack your mom gave you for Christmas and leave it there for the rest of the weekend. Saturday's big event, No Tie Dinner and Dessert Party isn't throwing curve balls. Come. Don't wear a tie. Donate to AIDS Services of Dallas and enjoy an evening of dancing, desserts, entertainment and auctions.
Suggested donations start at $50. The dessert party starts at 8 p.m. at the Frontiers of Flight Museum.

The Event: Bits and Bites
The Cause: El Centro Food and Hospitality Institute
Raise your kids well and hope they repay you. Former students of the El Centro Food and Hospitality Institute are doing just that by creating the tasty bits and bites for this event. Make a $40 donation (or $45 at the door) and you'll get to sample their creations March 27 from 4-7 p.m. at El Centro College.

The Event: 100th Anniversary of the Red Cross
The Place: Sprinkles Cupcakes in the Plaza at Preston Center
The Red Cross is celebrating its 100th anniversary with cupcakes. From March 27-April 1, stop in at Sprinkles Cupcakes and purchase a red velvet cupcake. All of the proceeds will benefit the Dallas Area Chapter of the Red Cross.
