Get there early, because some of the rare brews go quickly, and plan to stay for a while because some of them are pretty strong. Another incentive to stick around is the staggered tappings of rare and limited beers throughout the day, which will be announced via the venue's Twitter account (@flyingsaucerlak).
Also changing from last year is the price, unfortunately, jumping from $15 to $25, or $30 at the door. Once again, the ticket price includes a tasting card entitling holders to 10 samples from more than 30 brews. No mention yet of whether there will again be an additional charge for the "UR Not Worthy" stamp entitling drinkers to the samplings from the rare picks in the "Out Of This World" tent, as the press release only lists East Coast, West Coast, Texas and Captain's Picks. The beer lineup hasn't been announced yet, but we'll pass the info along as soon as we have it.
Don't forget that tomorrow is St. Crafty's Day at The Common Table, and that March 26 is Dogfish Head Day. Full lineups for both are here -- and manager Jeff Fryman sends word that a few others may be tapped tomorrow, depending on how fast the initial kegs go.
If you want the old standby Guinness (and some glassware), The Libertine is featuring it for $6 in a keep-the-glass pint night tomorrow. Today beginning at 5 p.m., the Meddlesome Moth will tap Dragoons Dry Irish Stout from Moylan's Brewery in Novato, California.
Lagunitas Brewing Co. will be featured in The Common Table's beer dinner April 6. Fryman says the beer lineup is not set yet, but that Hop Stoopid and Wilco Tango Foxtrot (WTF) are possibilities.
And the Libertine has set the menu for its March beer dinner featuring Austin upstart Jester King:
First Course: Chilled Champagne & Melon Soup paired with Drink'in the Sunbelt
Second Course: Belgian Endive Caps filled with Smoked Trout Mousse paired with Commercial Suicide
Third Course: Radish & Parsley Salad w/ Kumquat Vinaigrette paired with Wytchmaker
Fourth Course: Cassoulet (French Meat & Bean Casserole) paired with Boxer's Revenge
Fifth Course: Tiramisu paired with Black Metal Stout
