Restaurant Week Was All About Beef

While almost every Super Bowl visitor was told a different story, it looks like Dallas is still very much a steak town.

A full six months after KRLD Restaurant Week, organizers have released numbers from the charitable event. The annual fundraiser raised a record $605,000 for the North Texas Food Bank and the Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth -- and apparently did so with beef.

Eight of the top 10 "star restaurants," which earned their honorific by serving the most prix-fixe meals, specialize in steak. And while red meat's not the raison d'etre of the two outliers, it's not hard to scare up a steak at Abacus or Nobu.

Although the list doesn't account for how many weeks the restaurants participated in the event, which extended into a three-week long saga at some exhausted eateries, spokesperson Colleen Peterson says the list is still a good indicator of restaurant popularity. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse led the pack, followed by III Forks, Al Biernat's, The Capital Grille, Fogo de Chao, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, Craft and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Eaters in Fort Worth were slightly less parochial in their choices: Top restaurants there included Grace, Bonnell's, Brownstone and Bistro Louie, although Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse was the number one favorite.

Restaurant Week this year is scheduled for August 15-21.
