Five Best Eats In Dallas for Out-of-Towners

Categories: Whimsy

Welcome to Dallas, Super Bowl people! While you're in town, we hope you check out some of the best restaurants for tourists in Dallas. (Here's hoping you stick to this list so our actual favorite local spots don't get all crowded with giant foam fingers and face paint.)

Trail Dust!

Better not wear a tie! They'll cut it off, and you can't be mad because it's hilarious!

Hope you love your waitress, because she's the only local you'll have to brush elbows with in this joint. Get the steak! (Meanwhile, where we'll be: Hattie's, Bolsa--basically anywhere else.)

taco bueno2jpg.jpg
Taco Bueno! Authentic. Street. Tacos. Anyone who knows anything about delicious, authentic tacos will tell you that the food at Taco Bueno is the best taqueria that Dallas has to offer. If you're from out of town, you should go there. And stay there. (Where we'll be: El Paisa, Good 2 Go Taco, Torchy's Tacos, Tacos Y Mas)

KFC!

Welcome to the South! If you're looking to get yourself some yummy fried chicken, KFC really is the best we've got.

Sure, it's a national chain, but it's a Dallas tradition. (Where we'll be: Henderson Chicken, Big Mama's Chicken 'N Waffles, Bubba's)

Sony Bryans.jpg

Sonny Bryan's!

Barbecue just doesn't get any better than Sonny Bryan's. Pick out the fat, don't eat it and be sure to drench everything in sauce. It's better that way. (Where we'll be: Pecan Lodge, Lockhart Smokehouse [opening today!], Mike Anderson's)

whataburger.jpg
Whataburger!

It's a regional burger spot that Dallas loves. It's the best burger in Dallas for tourists, without question. (Where we'll be: Wingfield's, Angry Dog, Twisted Root, Adair's, Keller's)

Wow, did not read your first paragraph before I read your Taco Bueno choice, and almost fell out of my chair in shock. So thank you for the almost heart attack. And decent alt choices.

I can't believe this is what you suggest to represent dallas foods for our out of town friends! You should be ashamed!

Your diss on Whataburger shows just what jackassses most Dallas SNOBS are.I'll take a Whataburger (OUTSIDE Dallas County) any day over any burger joint in Dallas if for no other reason that no Dallasites will be anywhere near me. Fort Worth ROCKS and Dallas, (err Chicago wannabee, or is it NY wannabee) SUCKS.

Alice, baby, I love you, but did you put this together between snooze button swats?

I WISH I could speak for Fort Worth, it's one of my biggest regrets, having lived in Dallas for the past 30 years, really.

But if some dipshit presser from the North came here I would suggest Dalt's for a cocktails and a nice Sandwich, Judge Roy Bean's for pitchers of Margaritas, then Confetti! Stop by Vickery Feed Store on the way home for only the best food.

For the horny, the tittay triumvirate of Youngblood's/Sugar's/Showtime and the Million Dollar have all stood the test of time.

Of course, if you happen to be a tip-frosting douche from Baltimore, there's always Sipango and whatever that cokehole behind it is called this week.

WTF, is a Dalt's? Neve heard of the joint other than the one that was absorbed in Chapter 11 by TGIFridays parent company forever ago? I did a google search for DFW so either your a genius that knows someplace foodies like myself are unfortunate enough to have heard about or your an idiot trying to be funny. Just curious...which is it?

And don't you dare step foot in Maple+Motor Burgers+Beer or Avilla's. They're MINE.

Some of these folks are coming from places where their best fast food burger option is BK or Jack, so they'd probably find Whataburger a refreshing option and a hell of a value, especially after they had to drop a hundred bucks at Burlington for the coat and gloves they didn't think they'd need in Texas. Sure, if they want to drop ten to twenty bucks on a trendy burger, they can follow your recommendations. Or they can have a #5 No Onions with a strawberry fried pie and have money left over for extra beer at Jerry World.

Sadly, Twisted Root has completely fallen off my burger list. What the hell happened to that place? M&M, and Kenny's Burger and Square Burgers are the megabeef to eat.

Your alternate choices need work. Tacos Y mas is fail. Torchy's is white boy shit. All your chicken choices were once good but no more. These were written about years ago and lazy writers assume it still is good. twisted Root is tourist. Add Maple And Motor.
