Wingstop Flying Down South
Richardson-based Wingstop is continuing its spread south of the border. After seeing much success with six locations in Mexico, expansion plans for twenty more stores throughout the country will begin this year. Wingstop in Mexico is franchised by WIS de Mexico S.A. de C.V. While the company initially started with a 10-store plan, the demand for the wings has seen no slowing down and the company should have 30 Wingstops open in Mexico by 2014. Although American chain restaurants' menus typically see a retooling outside of the US to better fit other nations' tastes, Wingstops in Mexico adhere to the same exact menu.
The southern migration of Wingstop won't be limited to Mexico. Riding the wave of its high appeal in Mexico, the wing company is currently looking to expand into both Central and South America. No word yet if Dallas sports figure and Wingstop spokesperson Troy Aikman will be traveling to South America any time soon (he was at the Mexico store grand opening), but he might want to keep a suitcase packed just in case.
