Gordon Biersch: Slider Combo = DAAAAMN!
Each week, Happy Eating will highlight a different restaurant happy hour food menu, keeping you informed of what deals are out there. 
This week we try out the happy hour bar food selections at Gordon Biersch.
Where: Gordon Biersch
When: Monday-Friday, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Reverse Happy Hour 9-11 p.m., all day Sunday
The Scene: Soccer moms (and some tired husbands) taking a break from their shopping. College kids getting some cheap bar food, and suit types getting an after-work beer. Happy hour menu is available in the bar section and patio only, but there is plenty of seating.
The Deal: Menu has $5, $7 and $11 selections. $5 will get you simpler appetizers like garlic fries, nachos, mini-pizzas and flatbreads. For $7 you can choose from fancier items like spinach artichoke dip, crab stuffed shrimp, potstickers and calamari. The $11 plates are combo plates, i.e slider or appetizer samplers.
The Steals: Their $11 slider combo elicited a Jean Ralphio-style "DAAAAAMMMN" from us. Three BBQ pork sliders, three Kobe beef sliders and a pile of garlic fries is shameful, but it IS a steal. 
The Con: This isn't exactly the best-quality bar food in Dallas.
Eat: The garlic fries...because they are garlic fries.
Skip: The $5 potato chips. Really? Five-buck potato chips? Get the garlic fries for that price, instead.

The bottom line: Men who've been following around their wives and holding their purses for the past few hours, if you're already at the Park Lane shopping complex and need some bar food with that much-needed beer, go here. There are very cushy booths, friendly bartenders and a couple of flat-screen televisions showing sports-stuffs.
