And here's what Gordon Ramsay thinks of your tuna casserole.
A recent City of Ate post announcing Food Network's upcoming Dallas casting call has been hanging around in the most-viewed story list this week, so y'all are probably keen to learn about another chance for TV stardom.

MasterChef, the latest cooking competition show from the ubiquitous Gordon Ramsay, is seeking contestants for its second season. The program's conceit is that great chefs walk amongst us but are too busy shining shoes or teaching second-grade to chase kitchen fame. Gordon's here to help.

Much like American Idol, another show which trades on dreams of being discovered, MasterChef plays up the audition process -- often to the contestant's shame. As David Hinckley wrote in the New York Daily News, chronicling the pilot episode in which a sad sack applicant produces a "funeral cake" of cheese, mayonnaise, bacon, sour cream and butter, "We get closeups, we get the judges' tasting moment, we get the scrunched-up faces and the stammering excuses when the judges point out that the dish was appalling."

If the prospect of a viewing audience guffawing at your baked goods doesn't intimidate, auditions will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Le Cordon Bleu. According to a press release, applicants should register in advance -- but the website wasn't working this afternoon.
