Libertine, Meddlesome Moth and Common Table Unite Behind Avery Beer
Best of all, it's hopefully just the beginning of collaborative efforts by the city's beer-centric pubs to "not only enrich the Dallas beer culture with great beer but to build an atmosphere of cooperation and community amogst the people that have made beer into business as well as passion," according to Libertine manager Máté Hartai.
The opportunity to offer several rare Avery beers, some of which haven't previously been available on draft in North Texas at all, seemed like a perfect opportunity to start. It's the first time the Libertine has cooperated on such a scale with other bars for such a series. Eventually, Hartai says, he'd like to have a festival-style, multi-bar beer event featuring a variety of breweries. But doing an entire week with one beer in common seemed like a good starting point: "One step at a time," he said.
Common Table manager Jeff Fryman says he likes the idea of collaboration as opposed to competition. "It's kind of mimicking how craft brewers will collaborate on beers with each other, rather than just be like, 'I'm going to beat your ass.'"
Rather than schedule a specific time for a beer dinner, food pairings are available as long as the kitchen is open at each bar, Hartai said. Tonight's dinner-sized portion at the Libertine will be $12, and the accompanying pint of Salvation will be $7.
The schedule, with food and beer descriptions, is after the jump.
Monday at The Libertine: Food pairing with Avery Salvation (a Belgian-style golden ale, 9 percent ABV).
