Are you ready for a throwdown? Well, if you're a fan of the popular Food Network show of the same name, then you might want to pay attention to this: Chef Bobby Flay is in town, promoting his new cookbook, Throwdown! More Than 100 Recipes From Food Network's Ultimate Cooking Challenge. The cookbook features recipes from both Flay and competitors on the show. We like any event where we can show up in our pajamas or sweats. OK, we probably won't be rocking fuzzy slippers at this dinner, but we'll wear something comfortable. On Wednesday, October 20, The Grape is hosting a "Come As You Are" wine dinner, featuring wines from the Robert Hall Winery in Paso Robles. The winery recently won the coveted Gold State Winery award at the California State Fair's "Grapes and Gourmet." The 3 course dinner costs $45, and you can make reservations online at www.thegraperestaurant.com.
There's another wine dinner worth noting this week. The Mansion Restaurant will host the Spottswoode wine dinner this Sunday, October 24. For $185 a person, you can drink some fine organic wine and eat exquisite creations from Chef Bruno Davaillon. It's a small price to pay for feeling like royalty. Looking for another food festival this week? Well, look no further. The City of Keller is having their 23rd Annual Harvest Stew Festival at the Keller Public Library (640 Johnson Road) this Friday, October 22, 6-8 p.m. There will be games, hayrides, cookie decorating, and delicious stew.
