Having done midget wrestling and sword swallowing, the folks at Duke's Original Roadhouse are now paying homage to David Hasselhoff's expert burger consumption (as seen in the infamous video recorded by one of his daughters) by hosting a burger-eating contest of their own at Friday, October 15 at 8 p.m.

The competition is part of a two-day tribute to The Hoff, star of such cultural touchstones as Knight Rider, Baywatch and America's Got Talent. On Saturday, October 16, there will be David Hasselhoff and Baywatch "Bikini Babes" look-a-like contests. The happenings are just two events in a month-long celebration of all things loosely German, beginning with Oktoberfest. Hasselhoff, who is of German ancestry, was once a pop god in the Fatherland, with hit songs "Looking for Freedom" and "Crazy for You."

Asked if intoxication is a requirement for participation, manager Mechel Meinecke laughed and said, "Absolutely not. We're not saying anybody won't be drunk. But, no, being drunk isn't necessary." What the contestants will have to do is mimic David Hasselhoff's position on the video. They will have to lay on the floor with one hand over their heads and hold the burger with the other hand. All competitors will be judged by their ability to impersonate Hasselhoff and the technique employed while eating one burger, said Meinecke.

The one who best channels The Hoff will receive $50 in cash and a $50 gift card for food and drink at Duke's Original Roadhouse.

Throughout the night, a KITT, or rather a facsimile of KITT, the quippy 1982 Pontiac Firebird who was the real star of Knight Rider, will be announcing drink specials via video.
