Taste of Downtown Plano: Too Hot for Chili? Not in the 'Burbs.
Sometime it seems like the favorite pastime in Texas during summer is to find the nearest open building with AC. But while you were enjoying your daily dose of AC this weekend, you could have been sweating your ass off checking out the second annual Taste of Downtown Plano event.

Starting at Saturday morning on 15th Street in the historic section of downtown Plano, a plethora of restaurants and performers came out to show how it's never too hot to have a good time. Henry's Homemade Ice Cream stayed a popular attraction throughout the "89 but feels like a 100-degree" day, but alongside them were Daisy's Café & Grill dishing out a range of cookies that could make you forget all about the heatstroke you were going to have later. The best stand by far was Urban Crust and their fried ravioli. Filled with smoked mozzarella and sausage, the delicious little bastards were wrapped in handmade pasta with oregano and cilantro and fried in all their glutton glory that the marinara sauce.
One of the highlights of the day was the International Chili Society's Jack Daniel's Chili Cook-off. People from all over Texas came to battle by the bowlful to win the 2010 Texas State Championship trophy and the chance to represent Texas at the World's Championship Chili Cook-off in New Hampshire.
