At Duke's Original Roadhouse More Than Food Is Swallowed

Some choke down too many beers at Duke's Original Roadhouse in Addison. Others inhale sliders. But this Friday, October 1, at 10 p.m. and on Saturday, the entertainment will be swallowing swords and balloons, eating glass and -- get this! -- vomiting razor blades.

The folks at Duke's aren't strangers to the strange. Recently, the restaurant played host to midget wrestling, for which manager Mechel Meinecke guesses there were 1,000 people in attendance. So, why not a freak show? "Some places do bikini contests. Some places have bands. We like to do things outside the normal. We like to do things that will wow people," Meinecke says.

The human dartboard, pin cushion and chopping block acts will coincide with the Texas-OU football weekend. Aside from the Friday night show, the human oddities will perform under a big-top tent during halftime and after the game while customers attempt to prevent spewing the contents of $14 Dos Equis beer towers at the sight of a face buried in glass.

And, unlike the game at the Cotton Bowl, this freak show is free.
