This is the way the list ends. Not with a burger but a fish -- and another lousy photo.
To celebrate Dallas Observer's "Best of Dallas" 2010, available this week, City of Ate is serving up 100 of the favorite dishes we crave, savor and hope to scarf down again soon. These dishes are in no particular order. Some are little known, others celebrated. Some are pricey, others can be eaten on the cheap, but all are delicious to the extreme. Don't hesitate to share your own nominations in the comments. More of the dish's tasty details are after the jump.

No. 1: Plah Sahm Rote at Royal Thai

It isn't pretty; it isn't cheap; and it isn't a taco or a burger, which makes it a rarity on our list of 100 favorite dishes. Still, Royal Thai's fried whole red snapper topped with a spicy Thai sauce makes the cut for its delicious combination of crisp-coated, flaky tender and moist fish topped with a sauce that's sweet without being cloying and just spicy enough to give a low, slow burn. Served with sliced tomato and cucumber, the dish offers that perfect Thai-style blend of sweet and sharp, spicy and cool.

Though it is a mighty fine dish, it is not City of Ate's No. 1 favorite, since this list isn't ranked. This is just the end of the list. We'll be back next year -- maybe, maybe not -- with 100 more delights for you to try.
