This week's Dallas food blog coverage saw lots of action over at Stephen Pyles and a musical chairs of restaurant openings and closings all over the metroplex. Bargain priced wine and seafood may be in short supply at some venues, and a couple of bloggers gave the benefit of the doubt to restaurants after giving them a second thought. Dallas Morning News: Leslie Brenner reviewed The Common Table (check out our own Hanna Raskin's review from two weeks ago) but was none too impressed with the food or the waitstaff (neither was Hanna). Brenner found the restaurant--home to the 16-foot long communal table, hence the name--was a little too noisy but had good beer, provided that they had what was ordered. Eats Blog: Kim Pierce shared a list wines from Italy, France and Spain available for bargain prices at Pogo's. Leslie Brenner reported that the Gulf's oil spill has finally caught up to The Ranch at Las Colinas - no more oysters or mahi-mahi on the menu.

Sidedish: Andrew Chalk headed to Stephen Pyles for a fundraising event which raised $50,000 in an effort to help end childhood hunger in America. Also at Stephen Pyles, Chalk checked out their restaurant within a restaurant, Fuego. Better hurry to book your spot for an interactive and elaborate dining experience.

Pegasus News: Teresa Gubbins reported several new restaurants and locations opening and some closing. An English pub called The Lion & Crown has opened up in Avanti's former space in Addison, Aspen Creek opened in the old Bennigan's location in Irving, and the Original Fried Pie Place is considering shacking up with a donut shop for the fall after having closed shop in Richardson.

City of Ate: Hanna Raskin discovered that a barbecue contest next month in Oak Cliff has gone green--green as in meats from grass-fed animals only. Chris Meesey talked to winemakers from Iowa to figure out how to make the best Texas wine even better than native Texans. Andrea Grimes laughed in our faces after eating at the newly opened Green Room. José Ralat Maldonado returned to Taco Bell after a 15-year hiatus, but only for Cantina Tacos Kristy Yang decided that Vietnamese "fusion" or not, her visit to the Lemongrass Restaurant in Deep Ellum was worth the risk.
