Uptown Bar and Grill Has New Happy Hour Specials, Mi Piaci Gets Face Lift

Here at City of Ate we love happy hours. Hell, we even wrote a feature about them not too long ago. So, we're always on the lookout for our readers when a new chance for happiness -- or cheap drinks, whatevs -- pops up in Dallas.

Uptown Bar and Grill just introduced the new 3-4-5 happy hour that will be available every weekday from 2-7 p.m. It will offer $3 domestic drafts and bottles; $4 well drinks, import drafts and bottles; $5 call drinks and Jagermeister. The bar will also have $3 draft beer all day on Tuesdays, and happy hour pricing all day on Wednesdays.

Uptown Bar and Grill also has a new happy hour menu to go along with the drink specials. It will feature buffalo wings; cheddar fries with bacon, chives, and jalapenos; fried mushrooms; queso con carne; stuffed jalapenos; fried pickles and more for $5.

We hear they also have karaoke on the weekends. You might need that $5 Jager shot to belt out your version of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

Mi Piaci in North Dallas closed temporarily to get a face lift of sorts. The Italian restaurant added textured walls, bold wood floors and trim with a soft blue accent. Mi Piaci owners Sonia and Brian Black were recently inspired to do the renovations after their recent trip to Italy. The restaurant reopened their doors for business yesterday.

Plano's Bavarian Grill will host its annual Sommer Spiessbraten Dinner on Wednesday, July 14. The dinner will feature a pork roast rubbed with herbs and spices, pretzel rolls and Krautsalat, which is a Bavarian cole slaw. The Frankziskaner Brewery will also be there with an ambassador talking about the brewery's history and pairing the dinner with two choices of wheat beer. If you have no plans tonight, then check out the wine dinner at Salum starting at 7 p.m. It will feature a four-course menu prepared by chef Abraham Salum and include grilled scallops; saffron coconut cream, crispy noodles and shiso salad; sweet corn bisque; duck confit ravioli; filet of Wagyu beef with Parsnip goat cheese puree; and poached summer fruits with Champagne sorbet.
