Five Ritas To Get You In Sync with Cinco De Mayo
| Sarah Johnson |
In today's list, we have an Asian-inspired rita, a jumbo brain freeze, and even one that will remind you of your good ol' college days with a jello shot. We do realize there are plenty of places that offer a twist on the traditional Mexican cocktail, but here are just a few suggestions for your viewing, and maybe later sipping, pleasure. No other way to celebrate a battle that was won 148 years ago than drinking liquor and using a sick day on Seis de Mayo.

The Strawberry Gingerita is made with Silver Tequila mixed with fresh strawberry flavors and hints of Elixir G Ginger puree. RA Sushi will be offering the specialty drink for $8 today.

Sauzarita might not be an unusual one, but weighing in at 21 ounces it's pretty freaking big. The house margarita is also topped off with a shot of Sauza Hornitos Reposado. Normally the jumbo rita would be $14, but it's only $12 for Cinco de Mayo

The Margarita Tamarind is a combination of Cazadores Silver, orange liquor, ginger syrup, tamarind puree, and lime juice. During happy hour the drink is $5 and the regular price is $9.75.

The Lizard can be found at the popular Deep Ellum restaurant Monica's Aca Y Alla. The concoction is made up of Tres Generations, Cointreau, lime juice and a tequila Jell-O shot and is $7.

Another favorite at Monica's is the Frankie's Martini-Rita, which is made up of Don Julio Reposado, Cointreau, fresh lime juice and served in a martini glass. The mixture isn't as weird as the glassware it's served in. This one goes for $9.
