Dallas Wants To Be Savored, Wine and Beer Are Throwin' Down, Nana's Friday Night Flights, Eatzi's Needs More Time

Looking for weekend plans? Do you like food? Are you a wine lover? Do you like strolling around the Dallas Museum of Art? Answer yes to all four questions and we have the perfect event for you to attend.

The latest foodie fest rolling into the city this weekend is Savor Dallas, a two-day celebration of fine wine and foods. The Sixth Annual Savor Dallas will kick off Friday, March 5, with the Arts District Wine Stroll from 5-7 p.m. You will be sampling foods and wine while walking in and between the DMA's Seventeen Seventeen restaurant, Meyerson Symphony Center, Nasher Sculpter Center, Winspear Opera House, and Wyly Theatre. Friday's event will feature samplings from Tei-An, Jorge's and Screen Door, among other restaurants.

On Saturday, March 6, Savor Dallas will feature three different wine seminars and a reserve tasting featuring ultra-premium wines and spirits at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. Then the main event "International Grand Tasting" starts at 7:00 p.m., with over 60 local chefs serving food bites while you have the chance to choose from over 400 different wines, spirits and imported beers. It's the age-old question: What pairs better with cheese? Wine or beer? This Wednesday, March 3, Scardello's will be hosting the Beer vs. Wine Smackdown for $25 a person. There will be five rounds of pairings, with each featuring one wine, one beer, and one cheese. You will get the chance to talk about the pairings and decide a winner. Finally, the timeless question will have its answer.

This Friday, March 5, Nana will host its March's Friday Night Flight from 6-8 p.m. Nana's Wine steward, Russell Burkett, and executive chef, Anthony Bombaci, will come together to create the perfect menu for patrons. For $20 per person, you get to enjoy Cono Sur's 20 Barrels Limited Pinot Noir, Mohua Pinot Noir and Vincent Girardin Volnay's Vielle Vignes Burgundy complemented with mushroom cappuccino, pan roasted duck and grilled Kobe beef carpaccio. The new Eatzi's location off Lovers Lane was supposed to open last week, but has now been pushed back a few weeks. No reason was given, but we're guessing it takes a lot of work to pick out the perfect opera music for opening day.
