Hash Over: New Year's Eve Brings Out Champagne Toasts, Party Favors And Bands
First of all, sibling pubs The Old Monk, The Idle Rich and Blackfriar will each keep its kitchen open until 10 p.m., with a DJs providing music at each location starting at 9:30 p.m. It would be an excellent opportunity to try out some Christmas seasonal beers as well. Old Monk now has Barbar Bok and Sierra Nevada Celebration on draft and Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome, Scaldis Noel, Pyramind Snow Cap and St. Feullien Cuvee de Noel in bottles. The Idle Rich Pub offers Anchor Christmas and Sierra Nevada Celebration on tap and St. Bernardus Christmas Ale, Barbar Winter Bok and Winter Welcome in bottles. Blackfriar Pub has what it claims to be the last Sierra Celebration keg in Dallas and bottles of Delirium Noel, St. Bernardus Christmas Ale and Breckenridge Christmas. A $5 cover applies after 9 p.m.
Another City of Ate favorite pub, The Libertine, will have DJ Rob Viktum spinning funk, R&B and hip hop, plus a free Champagne toast, party favors and no cover.
The Barley House also offers a Champagne toast, plus an 8 p.m. buffet followed by a 1 a.m. breakfast buffet. The bar has hired Beatles cover band Hard Night's Day to play three sets, each spanning a different era of the band's history, plus a final set that branches into other '60s rock acts like the Who, Kinks and Stones. If you haven't already bought tickets, cost is $40.
Along with a midnight pizza buffet, Champagne toast and giveaways, Bryan Street Tavern has a triple bill of the Deathray Davies, Salim Nourallah and Buttercup at its $40 celebration.
In Fort Worth, $15 gets you into 8.0 Restaurant And Bar's celebration which also includes party favors and Champagne. A special menu includes Mediterranean salmon over cauliflower "couscous" and Italian salsa verdi, shrimp and grits and more. Local band The Campaign plays at 10 p.m.
For something a bit jazzier, Brooklyn Jazz Cafe will have violinist Michael Ward and sax man Marion Meadows; $40 gets you entrance to the Cafe and Catfish Blues. The following day, Brooklyn offers 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. happy hour specials that include free black-eyed peas and rice.
For the $30K millionaire set, Joyce Ultra Lounge offers Moet at midnight, a $1,000 cash balloon drop and three DJs for $35 to $45.
And to make a full night of it, NYLO in Plano's Black And White Celebration includes a hotel room for the night, drinks, Champagne and breakfast the following morning in The Loft.
