Yes, we're really giving prizes this time.

For the quality and--more importantly--quantity of comments that made their way into the non-winners list this year, the following readers have earned some top-notch (the phrase is relative) prizes. We have a collection of cookbooks published this year, as well as a few other bits. We'll list them after the jump.

Third prize winner gets to choose one item, second prize picks two and the winner can select three.

So, the winners (if that, indeed, is the right word):

Third: bruce
Second: DallasDude
First: TLS

To find out how to pick up the prizes (and see the choices), you'll have to continue reading after the jump--a feature demanded by our web editor, who fall asleep at night counting pageviews...although he generally stops somewhere around 37--40 on a good week.

Winners: you'll have to email me (dave.faries@dallasobserver.com) to confirm identity and set a time to come by our office (on the lovely, tree-lined corner of Oak Lawn and Maple). That's all. We'll have the prizes at the front desk.

Cookbooks to choose from:
Jon Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine by Jon Bonnell
The Ultimate Shortcut Cookie Book by Camilla V. Saulsbury
Dallas Classic Desserts by Helen Thompson
Field Guide to Candy by Anita Chu
Chili Madness by Jane Butel
Ten by Sheila Lukins
Wine Cocktails by A. J. Rathbun
The Birthday Cake Book by Dede Wilson
Wine Mondays by Frank McClelland
At Home Cafe by Helen Puckett DeFrance
300 Sensational Soups by Carla Snyder and Meredith Deeds

Other books:
Cooking Dirty by Jason Sheehan
Philip J. Romano: Into the 21st Century by Jessica Llanes
Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston
The Kitchen Linens Book by EllynAnne Geisel

Plus some other stuff.

Congrats and thank you all.
