After finishing the fermentation of its first batch of 100-percent Texan wine, Calais Winery will be taking a week off, closing today through Sunday.
Brooklyn Jazz Cafe presents Concrete Rose featuring Prudence the Isis from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The spoken-word event is held every First Tuesday in the restaurant's courtyard. It's free, but entails a two-drink minimum. That won't set you back much at all, though, considering the dirt-cheap drink specials like $1.75 domestics and $2 wells. You may even have some cash left over for selected half-price apps.
