Hophead: Homebrew Competition At Eno's Sunday
![]() |
| Hopefully entrants in Sunday's homebrew competition come up with something better than Skittlebrau. |
The restaurant has been accepting applications for several weeks. So far, a handful of amateur brewers have registered about a dozen different brews, says Eno's general manager Trent Smith. But if you've got bottles ready to go, the competition will accept applications (with a $25 entry fee) right up until the event.

The event also includes music from Oak Cliff indie-poppers Happy Bullets and frequent Eno's performers City Folk. A portion of proceeds from the entry fees and food sales benefits Bike Friendly OC, a nonprofit headed by Jason Roberts (a Happy Bullets member) that seeks to make Oak Cliff easier on cyclists through the addition of bike racks and riding lanes.
Hophead won't be there, though, because of a slightly bigger event combining live music with intoxicants, covering the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN, for DC9 and The Dallas Observer. Hopefully, there'll be a report next week from the "Broo-er's Festival," a biergarten featuring some 20 brewers including Sweetwater, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada and more.
