• AmyS is wrong, owners and manager can serve alcohol and a lot of times they are just helping out the bartender or server during a rush and don't keep the tip. cody Shawver is correct, your tip is not just for the server but the entire serving staff some of who work behind the scenes. I would always tip.

• I don't see why it would matter whether it was the owner, their child, or a complete stranger. Service is service.

• Yes, your tip not only goes to the wait-staff, but the wait-staff gives a part of their tip to the bar-back, the bussers and some times the host. When you stiff some one on a tip you hurt the whole staff.
