• instead of a $350 one of those Vinturi wine aerators works really well although they probably sound way too horrible to use in a restaurant. and you can't pick on a lady for using vegetable scrubbing gloves. they spend all kinds of money on their nails. i just use my chefs knife to zest..

• At the risk of sounding like a real snob, I would like to comment on these items. 1. $350 for a wine decanter? Is it magical? Does it turn all the wine you decant into 1970 Mouton-Rothschild? 2. When was the last time anyone who reads Unfair Park served caviar? 3. Wire whisk, $5.95. Does the same thing, plus you can use it as a whisk. 4. A must-have for the kitchen. (See, they're not all snarky, negative snobbery.) 5. Seriously? A "corn zipper"? Has she ever heard of a chef's knife? 6. Also useful, but cheaper from Amazon. 7. Roll of parchment paper, $2.99. 8. Nothing bad to say about this, and kudos for including something from a store most of us frequent. 9. Pack of scrubbing pads, $1.99. 10. Add a little white vinegar to the poaching water and the egg white will hold together on its own. I know, I'm being an ass. I just can't help myself. I hate wasting money in the kitchen, and I hate it when professional chefs tell home cooks that they need expensive, useless gadgets to produce good food.
